Transruinalta CurtaBooks | Cantons | Films | October Game | Pictures | Running | Trails 23 Oktober 2021 - Davos Oktober's race was a somewhat impromptu affair. We were going to Davos this weekend and it turned out this set of races was this weekend. The catch was that it was already fully booked. An email to the race people helped me discover a forum where people who didn't want to run were trading their places. I managed to pick up a spot in the 24 km Transruinalta Curta today. Wow, what an incredibly beautiful race. The Ruinalta is what the local language (Rumantsch) calls the the canyon the Rhine river makes through the mountains of Graubünden. In Deutsch it's Rheinschlucht. But in any language it's beautiful. Landslides expose the white rocks beneath the soil along the banks of the turqouise river, and the hills above were covered with trees displaying their full Fall colors. For some reason I consitantly underestimate the Alpine hills, and the the race ended up taking three and a half hours instead of two and a half. C'est la vie. I really have nothing to complain about because it was an experience I will treasure forever. And it was just my first time in Graubünden! ![]() |
