12GB, and other solvable problemsLast Blog | Index | Next Blog Books | Project Ninety | Training 1 March 2022 - Bergen At around 10MB/s the wifi at Starbucks was sufficiently fast to turn hours into minutes for that 12GB file. It's been an emotionally difficult trip to Bergen not managing to see my kids, but looking at the destruction in Ukraine I can at least be happy that my kids are safe, have roof over their heads, and also only have first world problems to worry about. Watching the Russian war of aggression there has been depressing but also heartwarming as help pours in from across Europe and the world. Putin may hold an ace in the hole with his nuclear deterence, but Ukraine's conventional forces are putting up a surprisingly valiant fight without troops from other nations joining them. Certainly China is watching with interest to see how their forthcoming invasion of Taiwan will play out. Some people say the best that can be hoped for is a quick victory for Russia who then establishes a friendly client regime in Kyiv, but I don't think the 40 million people of Ukraine deserve a Belarusian style dictatorship. Surely the democracies of the world can stand up for one of our own. |
