My goal for 2022 is to get back down to 90 kg, which is around 200 lbs. Schedule
94.8 kg. Doesn't seem like I'm going to make this goal this year . . . I've redoubled my efforts to exercise every day along with Iwona, who is going up Rosinli every day in November until we leave for the US for Thanksgiving. So I'm back down to 92.3 kg this morning. Among the year's goals this one is looking like it will come down to the wire. Stay tuned... As the cool weather has set in I've gotten further from my goal rather than closer. I weighed in over 95 kg this morning - despite or probably because of this weekend's activities. I'm hella sore from running the Greifenseelauf Saturday, but this morning I'm 90.2. The goal of getting under 90 is so close I can almost taste it! And today I am 91.1 after being 92.stuph for the other days since I've been back. Running every day maybe? I was surprised to discover that walking 300 miles across Spain didn't automatically take me below 90. Cervezas . . . I think, perhaps, too many blackberries from the forest was the cause of my blowout at the Lauftreff last night. Nevertheless I found myself to be 93.2 kg on the scale this morning probably as a result of the same. Today I finally passed under 94 kg. Ironically, I'm in about the same level of shape that I was last year when I ran the 51K in Grindelwald. Carissa tried to do the 101K there a couple weeks ago and earned her first DNF while Michael from my Lauftreff successfully completed the 35K. I'm traveling to Montreux for this weekends diversions. There's a statue of Farrokh Bulsara in the town, so they're running a 15K night race in his honor this evening. I haven't decided yet if I'll ditch the full beard for a mustache as is customery. The Swiss Riviera is also the place Charlie Chaplin ended up. He's been on my mind since Slieve Donard. Probably at least partially as a result of my painful reaction to too much arugula this week I dropped below 96 this morning. The hot weather continues to fuel my weightloss with the past 2 days in a row under 96.5. I'm almost halfway through the year though and not yet halfway to my goal. Somehow today I'm under 97 kg - 96.7 kg to be precise. Maybe the past two weeks of hiking has really done something. Or maybe it's just the warm weather. Back from Dublin I was still at 100 kg before the 3Länderlauf Sunday. This is frustrating, but my other goals for the year have taken precedence thus far. And I've achieved a lot in terms of travel and overall health and running. Weight, however, is a chronic disease that I haven't found a magic formula to defeat. Running has been my greatest ally, but injury is a fickle fate over which I do not have control. Perhaps I need to up my mileage from 25km/week since I clearly like good food and drink more than I can control. My legs cannot handle the road regularly though. I'm hoping the fresh produce from our garden will act as impetous, but yesterday I ate so much fresh arugula the glands hurt under my tongue. I weighed in at 98.0 kg this morning, which is not bad for lately but clearly not in line with my goal. My scale here apparently doesn't work anymore, but I was already way to heavy anyway - nearly 100kg when I left Switzerland even with all the running I've been doing. Going to have to make some dietary changes as well, but I'm not great at that when there's yummy things in the house... I'm a little stuck at the moment. I can't seem to get below 97 for a couple weeks now. Project Twenty-Five has been more of a success than Project Ninety so far. The berliner I had for breakfast probably offset the 3km walk with Paula before that this morning. I only need to ingest a few less calories than I use up, but I've focused more on being active every day than watching what I eat. That's more fun, really. Not having the beer or the ice cream in the evening is probably better for my health, but I'm trying to do this in a sustainable way. We'll see what works . . . Weighed in at 97.9 this morning, which means I continue to be just a week off from my initial goal. This is not bad at all. Unsurprisingly travelling to the US has made me fatter rather than skinnier as it often does. This will put me off my goal pace, although I did get close to my week 2 goal while I was there. I only recorded my weight once last dry January (95.7 kg), so I'm not really sure how that affects things either. Do I eat more to compensate for not drinking? I'm not really sure. My training has also been off the past week or so since I caught Covid.
