The Glass MenagerieLast Blog | Index | Next Blog Fifty | Ninety | Twenty-Five | Vesuvio 7 December 2022 This night I've read Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, which I picked up at Goodwill last week in Johns Creek. It's been on my radar for decades because of its titular similarity to a Star Trek episode from the very first season. The relation is only in my head though. Williams' play is about a family, a mother with two adult children still living at home. The girl is gripped by a fear of living life. The boy chafes under responsibilities foisted on him by his overbearing mother. Though the mother wishes success for her children, her domineering behavior pushes them in the opposite direction. |
