Pascal Vincent is a francophone Swiss comedian, which I did not know when I picked up his Les Pensées de Pascal (L'autre). I was in Delémont and passed a little free library in an alley. The better known enlightenment philosopher Blaise Pascal's Les Pensées has been on my "to read" list for many years so it caught my attention. When I realized it was humor I was excitedly surprised as seeing what other cultures think is funny is often a window to understanding them better. Vincent's book is organized as a series of one page jokes, some of which are actually funny while others are merely whitty. Along the way I learned some French slang. My favorite was probably
