Back in Switzerland and back to our weekend hiking routine of camino segments. Today we walked from Wattwil to St. Gallenkappel in nearby St. Gallen. We started off at the former kloster in Wattwil started by a Portuguese speaking nun, ironic because Iwona was just walking the camino in Portugal. From there it was up the hill to the partially ruined Iberg Castle, which, sadly, is shut for the Winter. Our climbing continued up nearly 500 meters before we finally reached a pass with breathtaking views of the Alps. The owner of the farm there had setup chairs and a beer fridge for us to take a break and enjoy the view. Then it was on down to Walde where we grabbed lunch as a sunny morning turned into a rainy afternoon. The way on down to St. Gallenkappel was not as pleasant, but still enjoyable.
