Passing through the Gotthard tunnel this morning on the way to Zürich I'm always amazed by how much things change. There are no more palm trees or pergola grapevines and the land seems more dominated by grass. The train annoucer stops leading with Italiano and now speaks Deutsch. The valley is also thinner, so it seems darker. The weather is also often colder, although not today. Same country, and yet so different!
