10 August 2024 - Broc Today started off with a morning run in the shadow of the Alps along the Sarine river and up to the oppidum of Gruyères. The dogs had not been here before, so it was great fun for them to sniff and swim. We arrived here in Broc last night after work and swam in the nearby reservoir at Morlon plage. It's nice to be speaking French again. As a teenager I don't think I'd ever imagine that I would say that. It's also a language that I speak better than Iwona, which is only true on some of our travels. Thursday night Iwona hatched the plan to travel to Glacier3000 this weekend, a trip which has been repeatedly postponed this summer on account of bad weather. I jokingly suggested she compose a good weather prayer like Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. Being a catholic girl Iwona took it to heart though and excitedly informed me Friday morning that her weather prayer had delivered clear skies for Saturday. So here we are. ![]() Ascending to the oppidum of Gruyères |
