27 Sept 2024 - somewhere above the Mediterranean

I picked up Tim Marshall's The Power of Geography last week in Zürich airport. It claimed to be about ten maps which show how humans are bound by geography. Browsing I opened to the Sahel chapter and was intrigued. Sadly that's the only chapter that isn't just about one country and a short history how they got their modern borders. The chapters are only slightly longer than the Wikipedia articles about said countries. What about the Artic Ocean, the South China Sea, or the Caucus Mountains. Surely that would have been more edifying than yet another history of the UK or Spain. Still, I can't entirely knock it as it was an enjoyable review and the Sahel chapter was very good.
