15 February 2025 - Adetswil Last night when I went to bed I made a plan for the morning to run down to the lake and back. Then this morning I didn't have to think about whether to go for a run or not. I haven't been very good about training this Winter, especially since a got sick with a cold on Christmas that lingered on through January. I woke up before the sun though, so I played Duolingo in bed until first light as I often do when I wakeup too early. 日本語を話します。At first light I put on my wool, laced up my shoes, and headed out with the dogs into the snow. Thursday and Friday we were treated to a solid snowfall that turned the dreary grey of February into a Winter Wonderland. The dogs enjoy the snow as much as I do and love running. Paula knows my running clothes and gets very excited when I put them on. This morning we headed down into the Tobel to follow the creek to the lake. A long the way we encountered a group of young people camping with a big fire and loud music. Everyone is up with the sun! Or maybe they were still enjoying Friday night... I knew that I could make it down to the lake, but that running there and back would be my longest run so far this year. And, ugh, it's only 11 kilometers. The sunrise in the clear blue sky on the fresh white snow was a beautiful sight though. And we did make it down to the lake and back. On the way back with the sun in our faces cresting over the hills, we saw many deer in the fields by the lake. Back home it was time to make waffles and enjoy a lazy Saturday reading and writing. |
