In Lateral Thinking Edward de Bono writes about creativity. But not only about creativity; also about how one can teach it. This was rather unexpected, and I didn't really need to read about how to set up group activities to explore different aspects of creative thinking. Although I do remember doing many of them as a child. Generating alternatives. Challenging assumptions. Innovating. Suspending judgement. Brainstorming. Reversing focus. Analogizing. Choosing an entry point. Stimulating randomly. All good concepts to remember. When, however, de Bono attempts to introduce the new word "po" as a conversational "laxitive", the idea is shit. And clearly did not catch on.
