5 September 2026 - Ambérieu-en-Bugey

Joseph Brodsky's Watermark: An Essay on Venice is just one long description of Venezia. It is a love letter, as we learn the real and imagined roles the city has played in Brodsky's life. Visits there over winter break. Dreams of it during his cold, Baltic upbringing. There is no real plot. The book is broken up into short snippets. And these snippets are only thematically joined. Still, the language Brodsky uses is deep in description and metaphor and definitely worth a read.
