Via Gebennensis Seyssel - Jongieux France Trails Index | Via Gebennensis

This segment starts off descends to the plane of the Rhône. At the bottom of the hill the trail crosses Le Fier river and there is a nice beach for swimming at the delta of this river into the Rhône. The trail follows alongside it for many kilometers and there are fields and forests and small towns. The last couple kilometers before Chanaz are on a levee in full sun. Chanaz is just beautiful and a great place to restock up on supplies and have a coffee or a meal. The trail ascends steeply into the hills again from Chanaz. Once the descent begins again at Lucey there are vineyards all around all the way to Jongieux.
