Fribourg is a well preserved medieval town in which one begins this section of the Via Jacobi. Up until this point Switzerland is German, but from here on out it's French. This section heads west through the suburbs and hills to the Arbogne River. This it follows into the suburbs of Payerne. There is a medieval tower at Montagny with free admission where the hills end at the plain. In Payerne is an old Cathedral which stands fairly barren inside.
