Fribourg is a well preserved medieval town in which one begins this section of the Via Jacobi. Up until this point Switzerland is German, but from here on out it's French. This section traces some beautiful countryside along the Sarine and Glâne. Also along the way is the 12th century Abbey in Hauterive, which has architectural similarities to the cathedral in Norwich, England. From there it's cowfields and small towns until one reaches Romont, the city on a hill complete with castle and cathedral.
