Starting in Appenzell the trail follows the Kaubach through the fields of the valley, often without the cover of trees. In Gontenbad begins a Barfussweg (barefoot path) that goes along the edge of the golf course to Gonten. Then it's a short walk to Jakobsbad, where the cable car up to Kronberg is along with an alpine coaster, kids' park and campground.
