The Wall Comes Down![]() Last Blog | Index | Next Blog Books | Films | Marrakech Training | Pictures 5 November 2021 - Hilton Head Island When I visited mom & dad in the Spring there was much talk of how they were going to completely redo the house this year - new kitchen, new patio, new floors, and a new sunroom where there once was just a deck. Dad wanted to make the house perfect for mom before his time on Earth was up. The construction was set to start not long after I departed in the beginning of May. Since then dad's condition and cancer prognosis has gone down. We played our last games of golf together this Spring, and now he can barely go a few steps with a walker, most of the time moving around in a wheelchair. Fortunately my parents scaled back the complete remodeling of their house to an addition of the sunroom and a new deck. To that end a temporary wall was put up across their living room where the new sunroom would be. This was, because it was temporary, was merrily decorated with paintings and love that would be totally inappropriate on the walls of a fancy nice house like theirs. I got to see the wall briefly, but within less than 24 hours after my arrival it was down to reveal the still unfinished sunroom. Tonight after getting back from dinner we wheeled dad over to it and he got up with his walker and crossed the threshold into his new room. ![]() |
