BergenLast Blog | Index | Next Blog Fifty | Garden | Ninety | Twenty-Five 13 August 2022 Today I finished a whirlwind trip in Bergen. I tried to visit Zara, but I just got Cara's boyfriend Jan at the door saying she didn't want to see me. Which I guess is a step up from Cara calling the police just because I knocked on the door. Still, I haven't seen my youngest daughter in two years and I'm worried about how she's developing through these difficult teenage years. On Thursday I spent some calming hours in the beautiful mountains, first hiking up Stoltzekleiven up to Sanviksfjellet. Above that there were clouds, so as I continued on to Rundemanen I was left with little visibility and the creepy sheepbells mysteriously somewhere in the mist. My initial plan had been to hike over Vidden, but inside a cloud without the views it didn't seem worth it so I headed down the Tarlebøvegen to Svartdiket instead. I also spent some time with friends on Askøy. Linda will be moving down to Paris at the end of the month, so I will perhaps finally bother to visit that city. Anette's boyfriend died while I was there, so I spent time visiting with and trying to distract her. It was expected since he had cancer, but she was still in a state of shock. Linda and I both lost our dads last year, so even though we don't exactly understand we have some inkling. The night before I headed out with my camping gear for Spain I met Maxwell and we had dinner between his shifts as a bike delivery boy. He really shone with the ennoblement of work. He's also starting college at Høgskulen på Vestlandet (HVL) on Monday so we discussed his education. I miss the kid despite the fact that we talk on the phone fairly regularly. |
