Sunday on the JakobswegSchwyz - Brunnen23 July 2023 This day saw us complete the six kilometer stretch of the Jakobsweg from the center of Schwyz down to they Vierwaldstättersee. I think this section has one of the densest concentrations of chapels we've seen so far. There must have been at least a dozen! We also saw the cloister in Ingenbohl, which is apparently where all the nuns in Switzerland go when they get old. And all the nuns in Swizerland are old. There we met Schwester Susanna, who, being 80 years old and retired, was more than happy to give us the full tour. Iwona was like an excited schoolgirl as we saw and heard the history of the cloister, including a visit to the crypt of its founder, Maria Teresa Scherer. And the nun giving us the tour was just as happy about her intense interest. Then it was on down to Brunnen, where we got dinner and swam under the view of the Alps. |
