An Update on My Annual Goals |

Since we're just about to finished the third quarter of the year it's a good time to reflect on the goals I set for myself at the year's outset:
- see Zara
- finish Mt. Vesuvio Ultramarathon
- read 50 books
- German B2 certification
- race in 4 more cantons
- visit 2 new countries
- race in 4 more countries
The first goal seems like a long shot. The year started off well, but then Cara rekindled the kids' hatred effectively so Maxwell even cancelled his Summer plan to visit just before he was supposed to come. Zara meanwhile took a secret vacation to the US only visiting people she knew wouldn't tell me and then sent me a "ha ha I went to the US and you didn't know" message. It's sad that Cara has forced the kids to divide family into those willing to ostracize me and those not willing to.
I made it to Mount Vesuvius, but sadly DNF'd because I was too slow. It was still a great experience though, and a good goal for the year.
I've read 45 books so far this year, and it's only week 39. This puts me on track to meet my goal by a good margin.
I have been intimidated by the German B2 certification and still haven't signed up for a test. This one is still a big maybe.
My goal to race 4 more Cantons is well underway, as I've raced in Genève, Fribourg, and now Jura. I have also signed up for a race in Schaffhausen at the beginning of December which will complete this goal.
Visiting 2 new countries I knocked out in June on our trip to Albania with a long layover in Serbia.
Racing in 4 new countries has proven more difficult, as I've only knocked out one in Monaco. However I plan to fly to Zagreb, Croatia this weekend to run a race there and across the border in Novo Mesto, Slovenia which will give me two more. I have no plan yet for the 4th though.
