Slug Highway |

This picture tells you all you need to know about the mistake I made. I shoved a couple bamboo poles into the ground next to the garden not realizing that I had created a highway for the slugs past the slug guard which I have all around the garden. This allowed at least a half dozen slug to enter the garden and wreak havoc in the radishes (fortunately they only eat the leaves). They'd also started on the spinach before I discovered my error. I must admit that I am surprised at how clever they are. Apparently slugs instinctively follow the trails of other slugs to find a mate, but in this case they also found a buffet waiting. I will have to be more diligent policing the border in the future!
