Earlier this year I was in Budapest and visited their excellent national history museum. There I picked up a couple books, one of which was The Carolingian Age in the Carpathian Basin by Béla Miklós Szőke. The book covers several centuries of the museum's collection with plenty of great photographs. The accompanying text, however, is somewhat ponderous.
