Goldküste

The 4th July, 2025 - Erlenbach

Started off today, as I do most days here, with a swim. It's been quite hot this week, but last night the rains came to cool it off. So this morning I was swimming in the rain (to the tune of Singing in the Rain, but significantly wetter). The north shore of the Zürichsee, where I live, is called the Goldküste. For a long time I'd thought it was because some of the richest people live in the suburbs along the lake. However a month ago on the train to Assisi a fellow resident explained to me that it's actually because this side of the lake gets sun all year, while the other side, the Pfnüselküste, does not. Pfnüselküste, by the way, means they always have the sniffles because they don't get enough sunshine.
