5 March 2026 - Adetswil A few years back I visited Pompeii and while touring the Roman amphitheater I came across some Pink Floyd posters on a wall in the hallway underneath the stands. Apparently they had performed there back in the 70's! The seating areas were now overgrown though, so I guessed they didn't do that anymore. Little did I know that Pink Floyd had only performed for the film crew making a movie of the concert. Tonight I listened to that concert for the first time, as last year they released it as an album. I don't know any of the songs; pre Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd is terra incognita for me, although their sound is still familiar. And I'm disappointed to learn that, unlike Nîmes' amphitheater where Rammstein filmed their Volkerball concert and they regularly have bullfights, the one in Pompeii just sits empty and covered with grass. Still, the music is transcendental.
