7 February 2026 - Oberwil

Today finds me back in Basel (Landschaft, that is) for this month's race, the Leimentalerlauf. Since it was a two hour commute I'm here an hour early, as I always give the trains room to be late and miss connections even though they're Swiss and almost never do. I've never been to Oberwil before, but it's a nice little suburb on the border with France. I've brought along Le Petit Prince, which I've been rereading to practice my French. I'll likely finish it on the trainride home. Like most smalltown Swiss races the distances are non-standard and I'm running the 15K. It's longer than I've run a race in awhile, but still not too long. My race last month in France was 12km after all. And I ran nearly 15 down the Vorderrhein last weekend. My current weight of 102kg is the main worry I suppose. It's a lifelong struggle.

Soaking up sun awaiting my run
