30 April 2024 - Adetswil

The garden is coming along nicely. I put in the slugwall halfway through last month and planted spinach and radishes. We also have onions, potatoes, and strawberries from last year. The potatoes have gone crazy and I think would fill the whole garden if I let them. We have so far enjoyed baby spinach as I thin those rows, and there have been radishes as well. I don't like radishes, but Iwona does. The dogs have tried to help with the digging so today I put up a wire fence to discourage them. Paula can jump over it, of course, but hopefully she takes the message to heart. Also today I planted celery, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, and some old carrot seeds Iwona found. Maybe some will grow. The slugwall has worked wonders compared to last year. The apple tree is also blooming, although the flower bulbs Iwona planted around it don't seem to be coming up. As always with gardening it's a mixed success. What I did not plant this year is arugula (to avoid poisoning myself with painful mouth sores).
