Today I found myself back in Waldstatt for a 17K. Last time I was here I was walking the Via Jacobi, and today I ran on some of the same trails. I finished walking 450 km across Switzerland on the Via Jacobi three months ago and these next three weekends I'm on track to finish running a race in every canton. The race in Waldstatt today gives me Appenzell Ausserrhoden, my 24th. Next weekend is Appenzell Innerrhoden, and then Obwalden the weekend after that. I've only managed to run races in 18 US states so far, so I'm pretty excited to complete Switerland. I suppose the genesis of the quest lies in reading Dean Karnazes book 50/50 about running 50 marathons in all 50 states in 50 days ten years ago. He's an inspiring runner, but also has some genetic gifts I do not. Still, running these 26 races in just over 3 years is not bad.
